Should I go for it?
  • JonJon June 2011

Hey guys looking for some advice so best place to come was here. I've been working with a girl for the past few months and I've really started to like her. The problem is it's the end of our H.S. years and I'm a junior turning senior and she's a senior turning college. She's here for the summer in Rhode Island and then leaving to college in the fall to Washington DC. We've been flirting a lot lately and the other employees think it's pretty obvious. My question is basically is it worth pursuing given the short time we have? Thanks for all criticism!

If she's important to you then have a summer fling.

If you don't want to lose her as a friend then you need to lay off and just flirt with her, but don't take the relationship towards anything more than causal cause that will make being friends when she goes to college pretty much impossible!

    I hope that help!

There's this girl I see at school all the time, for the past year and half. She's always looking at me, like "talk to me" or "do something" Through out that year and a half we would always see each other around campus and each time we saw each other, I would look the other way, and get scared (she would too!), I never took the initiative. In the fall, she's leaving the same college we go to and heading off to a 4 year..

I managed to find her on the FB and I tried to add her, which she did, but she wrote me a message and it said:Why have you added me? then I replied "Well umm.. I see you around campus all the time..but I never knew you or your name, so I guess I'm trying to get to know you..through facebook." to which she replied:"how did you even know my name?" then I replied "I don't. I don't know anything about you. I saw your face..and thought "hey it's her" so I thought I'd try to add you. Look if this makes you uncomfortable, you could just delete me. Believe me, I don't want to make you feel weird.

And that's it, I'm still her friend. And about a week ago she updated some personal info to include that she is in fact single and well umm interested in men...

It's now summer school here, and I spend my time in the library doing my HW and what not, and in the Library she happens to work, I've only seen her once, and I would have approached her...but she was surrounded by friends and I chickened out.

Any thoughts on where this puts me? Or what my next move should be? If at all any move should be made?

    Help/advice would be appreciated!!

To be honest, it doesn't really put you anywhere, it doesn't sound like your really friends. Not that you can't make something of it. If you're charismatic and confident approach her when she's alone and do your thing. If you don't think you can, build something up from facebook. Like some statuses, leaves some comments, start some conversations. Then when you've got some basis of friendship, say hi and talk to her in person. Hell, if you're feeling lucky, use those messages as an excuse to ask her out, although it seems that chance passed you by. On a side note: Based on the messages, I can tell you she probably was just curious of who you were or joking. The question about the name was probably just because you said you didn't know it in your response, not because she was creeped out or bothered, I understand you may have been nervous but your responses definitely told her that. For future reference, analyze a sentence for multiple messages and tones rather then giving a quick paranoid response, because if you think you're being paranoid, you probably are. So in her eyes, she's probably just like, "Well that was odd." So don't worry, just be more confident next time. This is all from my own failures and experiences, trust me I've given plenty of paranoid responses. Just remember, any human can relate with any another given the right situation. Work fast though, summer's flying by. Hope this helps!
